We gather to worship each Sunday morning at 10:50 in our historic sanctuary in downtown Hico, Texas. The atmosphere is casual while the spirit is high. You'll find some folks in jeans and some in suits, but all with a friendly smile. We invite you to come just as you are. Pastor Don's message is always relatable, relevant, encouraging, and scriptural. Our music is a blend of classic hymns and contemporary worship songs, with a little southern gospel sprinkled in. Piano, guitar, and a spirited choir lead us into praising our great God together. The sacrament of Holy Communion is offered the first Sunday of each month. God is good . . . all the time!
Faithful Methodists have been worshiping in this same spot since 1881. While we are proud of our legacy, we do not live in the past. Our history calls us to live in the present and prepare for the future. Some parts of our worship include classic liturgical elements while avoiding getting lulled into numb repetition. Technology is no stranger in our sanctuary, with the regular use of outstanding audio and video.
Matt Cardin is an outstanding choir director and pianist who helps select the hymns and songs for each Sunday. Our chancel choir understands their role of leading the congregation in worship by making sure they joyfully engage in worship themselves. Having a heart for worship is the primary qualification for singing in our choir. We perform at least two cantatas each year, one for Christmas and one for Easter. During every month that has a fifth Sunday, our music heads toward guitar-driven southern gospel with plenty of smiles to go around.
